“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.” --Revelation 3:11
I try to hold on to Lexi’s leash when we’re walking, but sometimes it just slips out of my grasp. Maybe my fingers are stiff with cold on a frosty morning, maybe I’m being inattentive, maybe I’m trying to hold on while I’m simultaneously blowing my nose. For whatever reason, I’ve dropped the leash. I have to scramble to pick it back up again before Lexi gets away from me. We try to hold on to faith and hope when we’re walking with God, but sometimes it just slips out of our grasp. Maybe we’re stiff with fear or weak with grief, maybe we’re trying to juggle too many things. Maybe we’re simply being inattentive. For whatever reason, we’ve let go. But hope and faith won’t get away from us. Jesus Christ is coming soon. Our hope and faith will be restored (Romans 15:13). Advent is the time to grab hold again.
Dear God, This Advent season, let me grab hold again of hope and faith. Amen
