“The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” –Proverbs 4:18
When I walk Lexi on these dusky winter evenings, I choose a well-lighted route with plenty of street lamps. Yet even along these well-lit paths there are patches of darkness between the lamps. There are shadowy corners not touched by the light. I seek to walk in the light, but I have to face some darkness. At Advent we confront the darkness that Christ’s light hasn’t illuminated yet. The Light came into the world two thousand years ago, but it hasn’t shined into every dark corner. We strive to walk in the light, but there are patches of darkness along our path. The hope of Christmas is that things get a little brighter year after year.
Dear God, Let your light shine ever brighter until every dark corner sees the full light of day. Amen
