“He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.” --Revelation 22:20
Sometimes when I’m walking Lexi I have to slow down to negotiate a steep slope or a mud puddle. Lexi walks ahead of me, and she feels my slowing as a tug on her leash. She looks back over her shoulder at me as if to say, “Are you coming?” During Advent we ask the same question: “Are you coming, Lord?” We’re trying to walk forward in faith, and yet we feel something holding us back. Doubt tugs at us. Fear drags us down. Sorrow wrenches us. We look back to see if Jesus is right behind us, if he’s going to catch up. At Advent he says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” And today he is already walking with you.
Dear God, Thank you for the promise of Advent that Christ is coming soon. And thank you that he is walking with me today. Amen
