“A person’s steps are directed by the Lord. How then can anyone understand their own way?” –Proverbs 20:24
Our vet’s office is only a mile from our house. I walk Lexi there for her annual check-up. Since we’ve only walked there two or three times, it isn’t a familiar route for Lexi. I direct her steps, but she doesn’t understand the way we’re going. Lexi adores seeing the vet. The vet is a person Lexi is allowed to greet and even jump on. Dr. Raines fusses over her and gives her treats. What’s not to love? So when Lexi and I walk to the vet, I’m directing her way to someplace wonderful—even if she doesn’t know it until we arrive. So it is when we walk with God. He directs our steps, and we don’t understand the way we’re going. We certainly wouldn’t know how to get there without God’s guidance. But he’s directing our steps to someplace wonderful, even if we don’t know it until we arrive.
Dear God, Thank you for directing my steps because I don’t understand my own way. Amen
