“[W]hen you and your children return to the Lord your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today, then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you….” --Deuteronomy 30:2-3
We always walk Lexi on a leash, but we taught her the command “Come” just in case. If ever she breaks free or escapes out the front door, she comes back when my husband or I call her. She obeys us and returns. The Law of Moses was God’s “leash” for keeping the Israelites walking close with him. But—just in case—he assured them that they could always return to him if they broke away. They could obey him and come. Teaching Lexi to come was our backup plan so Lexi wouldn’t get lost. God’s backup plan is forgiveness.
Dear God, Thank you for calling me back when I break free so that I can obey you and come. Amen
