“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.” –Psalm 130:5
Lexi isn’t allowed to dash out the door and down the steps when it’s time for a walk. Instead she waits at the top of the steps for me to cue her to move. Her whole being waits. It’s only persistent training that prevents her from running down the flight of stairs, dragging me along behind. She has faith in me, in my word. I will give the word to go, if she waits for me. The psalmist expresses this same patience and hope in God. God will give us his word, if we wait for him. Experience has taught us to have faith. When we walk with God, we don’t dash out the door, run down the steps, go our own way. We follow God’s command. We wait until he speaks. In his word we put our hope.
Dear God, Teach me to wait for you and have faith in your word. Amen
