“That’s exactly what Jesus did. He didn’t make it easy for himself by avoiding people’s troubles, but waded right in and helped out. ‘I took on the troubles of the troubled,’ is the way Scripture puts it.” --Romans 15:3 (The Message)
On our walks Lexi and I cross a dry creek bed where water flows after a good rain. Lexi doesn’t hesitate when the creek is full; she wades right in. I jump over. I don’t want to get my feet wet. On our walk with God we come to the same crossing. In someone’s life a storm breaks. Rain falls. The waters rise. Do we wade right in and help out? Or do we jump over the swell? Maybe we think, “Jesus calls us o’er the tumult….”* That’s not what he meant. Jesus didn’t hesitate when the creek was full. We, too, have to get our feet wet when we walk in faith.
Dear God, Help me wade right in and help out when someone is swamped. Amen
