Teaching Walking

“Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”  --Matthew 5:19
A man in our neighborhood adopted a puppy about a year ago. I noticed him walking his dog in the mornings when I was walking mine. He trained his puppy to walk on its leash using the same method we were taught at the Humane Society. When the dog looked up at him, he clicked his clicker and gave the dog a treat. This teaches the dog to keep its attention on its person and not be distracted by stimuli in the environment. Christians are always learning to walk with God, but we are also teachers, like my neighbor. We don’t merely follow God’s commands; we teach others to walk with God by our example and by our instruction. When we walk in faith, we’re teaching others to walk in faith, too.

Dear God, Bless my faith walk to teach others to walk in faith, too. Amen
