“All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” --Provers 14:23
Dogs don’t sweat when they exercise, except through the pads of their feet. Do we sweat when we exercise our faith? Proverbs 14:23 says, “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” This verse can be interpreted literally; Proverbs is full of practical advice. But the verse is a metaphor for walking with God as well. We profit spiritually when we exert ourselves to do the work God has called us to do. We’re poor in spirit if we don’t actively live out God’s word in our lives. Lexi doesn’t sweat when she walks with me, but I sweat when I walk her. It’s hard work. That’s how we should walk with God.
Dear God, Encourage me to work hard when I walk with you. Amen
