“He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.” --Luke 15:16 (from the Parable of the Prodigal Son)
According to the website Out The Front Door (www.outthefrontdoor.com), the Humane Society of Boulder Valley (where we adopted Lexi) returns 90% of stray dogs to their owners. Imagine being a lost dog: hungry, lonely, maybe hurt or sick, certainly afraid, surrounded by strangers. Imagine how happy a stray dog is to be reunited with its family! And imagine how happy the family is to have their dog returned. When we stray from God’s side, we may find ourselves hungry (for Truth), lonely, heart-sick, sin-sick, and afraid. Like the prodigal son, we have to find the courage to go home. And we’re so happy to be home, safe and cared for. Yet how much happier is our Father to have us returned.
Dear God, Thank you for being a home I can come back to when I stray. Amen
