“Then I said, Listen. Listen carefully: Don’t stay stuck in your ways! It’s God’s Message we’re dealing with here.” –Jeremiah 13:15 (The Message)

Sometimes Lexi gets stuck in one spot. She sniffs and sniffs around and around a few square feet and won’t move on. I never know what she smells or why it’s so enthralling. After several minutes I gently tug on her leash and say, “Let’s walk,” but she ignores me. I have to give her leash a significant pull to move her along. Sometimes we get stuck in one spot when we’re walking with God. We won’t move on. God tugs at our hearts and says, “Let’s walk,” but we ignore him. The prophet Jeremiah warns us against getting stuck in our ways. “It’s God’s Message we’re dealing with here,” he says. It’s urgent, undeniable, transformative. It ought to move us. I’ve wondered how long Lexi would stay in one spot if I could wait forever. God can wait forever—but why are we staying in one spot?

Dear God, Move me with your Message so that I don’t get stuck in one spot. Amen
