“As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them….” –Luke 24:15
During summer vacation—when there’s no school to get ready for—my son comes with us on Lexi’s morning walk. I enjoy his company. Lexi enjoys his company, too. She likes having her people around her. So many others come with us when we walk in faith. We are surrounded by “a great cloud of witnesses” (Hebrews 12:1). It’s a promise we make to one another: “We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand,” as the hymn goes.* And when we walk in faith together—like the disciples on their way to Emmaus—Jesus himself will come up and walk along with us.
Dear God, Thank you for all those who walk in faith with me. Walk along with us. Amen
