Finding the Path

“Come near to God and he will come near to you.” –James 4:8

If there’s any place Lexi wants to get to, she has to find the path. If she wants to cross the creek, she has to find the bridge. If she wants to explore the woods, she has to find the gap in the fence. If she wants to cut through the meadow, she has to find the trail. Christians want to get to God. James 4:8 promises, “Come near to God and he will come near to you.” But how do we “come near”? How do we get there? Prayer is the pathway. Prayer is the bridge and the gap in the fence. Prayer is how we get to God. When we pray, we discover that God is walking right alongside us. We’ve gotten where we wanted to go.

Dear God, Bless my prayers to be a path that leads me nearer to you. Amen
