“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” –Hebrews 13:16
Usually when Lexi finds a scrap of food on the ground, it’s covered with ants. When she snatches the morsel up, she takes the ants’ food (and a few of them with it). She doesn’t understand that, of course. She’s greedy, and she’s oblivious to the ants. Dogs don’t share. Humans, on the other hand, are commanded to share what they have. Humans can be greedy, but more often, I think, we’re simply oblivious to the need around us. When we take, we don’t realize who we’re taking from. We would gladly share, if we knew. We have to pay attention. We won’t forget to do good and share if we look around and see who wants.
Dear God, Make me mindful of the need around me so I will remember to do good and share. Amen
