“We’ve finally figured it out. Our lives get in step with God and all others by letting him set the pace, not by proudly or anxiously trying to run the parade.” –Romans 3:28 (The Message)
Lexi has finally figured it out: she has to let me set the pace. If she goes too fast, I can’t keep up. If she goes too slow, I’ll tug at her leash. She has to get in step with me so we can walk together. Some days my feet drag a bit. And some days there’s a spring in my step. Lexi has to pay attention to my pace so she doesn’t rush ahead or fall behind. God sets the pace when we walk with him. If we go too fast, his will won’t keep up. If we go too slow, he’ll tug at our hearts. We have to pay attention to his pace so we don’t rush ahead or fall behind. We have to get in step with him so we can walk together.
Dear God, Teach me to let you set the pace; bless me to get in step with you. Amen
