Never Finished Walking

“Follow all these laws I command you today—to love the Lord your God and to walk always in obedience to him….” –Deuteronomy 19:9 (emphasis mine)

I’m never finished walking Lexi. Even when we’ve just come home from a walk, there’s always another walk a few hours later. Sometimes it feels like my days are just brief intervals of free time (for work, housework, and meals) squeezed in between walks. Once I took her to doggie daycare just so I wouldn’t have to walk her that day. It’s a big commitment. Likewise, we’re never finished walking with God. Even when we’ve crossed a dark valley or climbed a high hill, there’s always another leg of the journey to make. God leads us ever onward. It’s a big commitment. We try to get out of it sometimes. We make excuses. Thankfully, God is always ready—like Lexi is always ready—when we want to walk again.

Dear God, Help me to live up to my commitment to walk always with you. Amen
