“The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare them; the cords of their sins hold them fast.” –Proverbs 5:22
One day when I was walking Lexi, I passed two young kids walking their dog. This dog broke loose from its leash and came running up to greet us. It wasn’t hard for the dog to break free from the girl’s grasp; it was much stronger than she was. It’s a little harder for us when we try to break free from sin’s hold—but God is much stronger than sin. He snaps the cords like the dog yanked his leash. God sets us free from sin (Romans 6:18). Then we come running to God: “I run to you, God; I run for dear life” (Psalm 31:1 The Message.) Break loose!
Dear God, You are stronger than sin. Break the cords that hold me fast. Amen
