“For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection.” --Acts 1:22b

In the winter months, Lexi and I get to see the sunrise on our morning walk. All of us who walk in faith have seen the sunrise, too. It’s when the dawn of truth breaks over us that we set out on our faith journey. But perhaps we haven’t seen the sunrise lately. On Easter we celebrate the Son of God risen from the dead. Are we witnesses of the resurrection? Have we seen it? Of course we weren’t with the women at the tomb nor among the disciples to whom Jesus appeared behind locked doors. Unlike Thomas, we believe without putting our fingers where the nails were or putting our hands into his side. Yet there must be something that we ourselves have seen that convinces us that Jesus Christ is risen. I believe that if we look, we will see everywhere evidence of our salvation, of God’s grace, of love triumphing over death. When we say that every day is Easter, it isn’t only because Jesus is risen now and forever. It’s because the Son of God rises again and again every day, every time sin and evil and death are conquered. We witness the resurrection in our lives and in our world. We followers of Christ can see the sonrise every day when we walk with God.

Dear God, Open my eyes to see the sonrise every day. Amen
