“Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, Lord, are good.” –Psalm 25:7
Lexi isn’t an adolescent anymore. (Whew!) Some days I feared she would never outgrow her willfulness and disobedience, but she finally matured and became livable and loveable. However, I didn’t accept the change in her for a long time. I persisted in thinking of her as a troublesome, unruly, unmanageable dog. I didn’t even notice when we were rarely having trouble with her anymore. I continued to hold her youthful behavior against her. Fortunately for us, God doesn’t hold our youthful sins against us. He recognizes our spiritual growth. He sees that we’ve repented and changed our ways. God forgives and forgets. He only remembers us in love. When we walk with God, we don’t have to drag the past behind us.
Dear God, Thank you for forgetting the sins of my youth and the mistakes of my past. Amen
