“You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.” –James 5:8
When Lexi “freaks out”* during a walk, I stand on her leash (near the midpoint). Now it’s impossible for her to leap around or bite the lead. Then she can begin to calm down and regain her self-control. I just have to stand firm and be patient until the frenzy has subsided. Likewise, when things around us seem out of control, we have to “be patient and stand firm” until God comes to subdue the chaos. What we mustn’t do is get worked up ourselves. Psalm 37:6 says, “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.” Sometimes when we walk, we stand and wait.
Dear God, Teach me to be patient and stand firm until you come to subdue the chaos around me. Amen
