“The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.” –Proverbs 12:15
My husband and I had no idea what to do with the exuberant fifty-five-pound furball we adopted once we got her home. We didn’t know how to manage her or train her. We needed advice. We were very lucky that the Humane Society where we adopted Lexi offered training classes and even—in extreme cases—one-on-one in-home consultations. After hearing us describe Lexi’s behavior problems, a trainer agreed to come to our house. I was embarrassed to have to admit that we were floundering, but it was such a relief to get help. It turned out that there were solutions to all our problems! Sometimes Christians need advice, too. We don’t know how to manage. We’re floundering. We might be embarrassed to admit that we’re not doing okay, but it’s foolish to persist in our own way when we keep failing. It’s wiser to seek guidance. And it’s such a relief to get help! Our dog trainer even went on a walk with us to show us how to walk with Lexi. Our spiritual advisors can show us how to walk with God.
Dear God, Bless me to be wise enough to seek advice. Amen
