“The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.” –Matthew 21:14
While we were walking one morning, Lexi began limping. Soon she stopped walking, lay down in the grass, and began licking her paw. She got back up again, limped a few steps, and lay down again. She licked and worried at her paw some more. I examined her foot but didn’t see any thorns or any visible problem. We hobbled home this way: stop, lick, limp a few steps, stop, lick, limp. I wished I knew what to do help her, but it wasn’t a problem I could fix. Sometimes we begin limping when we walk with God. Something’s bothering us. We worry about our jobs, our relationships, our happiness. Maybe we don’t know exactly what’s wrong, but we feel like we’re only hobbling along. Fortunately, whatever it is, it’s a problem Jesus can fix. Jesus heals the lame. If we come to him, limping as we are, God will make us walk in faith again. Lexi was walking right by evening. We walk right by God’s grace.
Dear God, Heal me when I become lame and let me walk in faith again. Amen
