Daylight Savings Time

“There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.” –Revelation 22:5

I’m always grateful when Daylight Savings Time ends. As autumn waxes and the days grow shorter, Lexi and I find ourselves walking in the dark in the mornings. We’re out the door by 6:30 a.m.; by late October the sun doesn’t rise until 7:25. But once we turn back our clocks, the sun rises at 6:30 instead of 7:30. There’s light for walking in the morning again. It feels like a gift of light. God gives us the gift of light in Jesus Christ. When we find ourselves walking in the dark, God gives us more light. God gives us so much light that the night is overwhelmed and vanquished. We won’t need lamps or even the sun because the Light comes from God himself. The daylight time will never end.

Dear God, Thank you for the Light. Amen
