“…and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.” –2 Timothy 2:26
One morning when I stepped out the front door to take Lexi on her walk I stepped into a giant spider web as wide as the porch posts. I didn’t see it until I was wrapped up in it. Spiders don’t creep me out or anything, but I was glad that the spider didn’t land on me. I felt bad about destroying her work. Sometimes when we step out to walk with God we step into a web or snare that we don’t even see until we’re caught in it. We get wrapped up in it, entangled in it. It sticks to us just like a spider’s web. But we aren’t stuck. 2 Timothy 2:26 says we can “come to [our] senses and escape from the trap* of the devil….” We won’t feel bad about destroying this web: “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work” (1 John 3:8). God will free us, and then we can walk with him.
Dear God, Free me when I get caught in a snare and am all tangled up. Amen
