Stop-and-Start

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” --2 Peter 3:9

Walks with Lexi tends to be stop-and-start. She doesn’t walk steadily. She trots along quickly for a bit, and then she stops abruptly to investigate an interesting smell. I have tripped over her before because she stops so suddenly. Our faith walk tends to be stop-and-start, too. We progress quickly for some time, and then we stop abruptly. Maybe we are waylaid by temptation. Maybe we grow weary. Maybe we lose hope. For whatever reason, we stop walking in faith. Eventually Lexi will start walking again, but I know that she will stop again—many times—before we make it home. We Christians may stop and start many times before we make it Home. God will be waiting to receive us when we get there.

Dear God, Thank you for being patient with me when I stop walking with you until I start walking again. Amen
