“And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here.” --Romans 13:11-12a
I wake up by six o’clock in the morning to walk our dog. I try to be back from our walk before the kids get up. While Lexi and I are rounding the block, I hear alarm clocks going off in the houses we pass. I say to Lexi (though it’s nonsense to her), “We’re already up, aren’t we?” As Christians, we're already up and walking in faith. We have wakened from our slumber. We know that God’s day is almost here. In fact, we know that God’s day is always dawning. Nevertheless, we’re sometimes tempted to sleep in. We don’t want to get up and walk in faith. But Lexi won’t get her exercise if I stay in bed, and we won’t get closer to God if we don’t do his work. The buzzer is going off; the hour has come.
Dear God, Wake me up to walk in faith. Amen
